Happy Halloween!![]() I hope you all have a spooktacular time! Joe and I dressed up as LINK AND ZELDA if you didn't guess it. It was a lot of fun! Check us out in our costumes! 4:45 PM 10/31/2007 0 Comments:![]() It's finally here! We've been waiting for it, but it hasn't given us the time of day lately! The temperatures have been quite warm for this time of year, but after one last hurrah of 70 on Saturday, Fall finally decided to make an appearance. Elise's party was a great success. On our way home, we decided to mosey on back south, stopping in Frenchtown for coffee and air, we walked around and took in the day. There is nothing like a crisp Autumn day in a river town around here! 8:13 PM 10/29/2007 0 Comments:Well, the time has come once again! Elise's annual Halloween is upon us. We've spent months thinking about our costumes, even possibly eluding to what our ideas might be, but certainly never telling. School doesn't make for easy costume making, but somehow I always manage to whip something up. I'll post pictures when all is said and done, but for now, I'll give you some hints.. My costume involves some white silky fabric, long white gloves, golden armour on my shoulders, a golden headdress of jewels and leaves, a sword, and a beautiful sash! Joe's costume involves a green tunic, a leather sash, a green hat, a sword, some leather boots, and a boomerang. His might be the big tip off! Pictures forth coming next week! In the meantime, enjoy your weekend! Labels: Halloween 8:41 AM 10/26/20070 Comments:Temping isn't really fun anymore. Every morning, the second I wake up, I stick a basal thermometer in my mouth to track my temps. It was facinating at first, but now, I live in fear of those last few days..hoping desperately that my temperature won't drop. Today, it decided to go diving. It isn't below the coverline, and I don't have my monthly friend yet..but it's just the usual sign of impending doom. How many months do we need to play this game before we are successful? I'm running out of patience! Labels: Quest for baby 10:34 AM 10/24/20070 Comments:Joe and I have become Mac people. I'm proud of this fact. I feel like a PC just isn't quite with it anymore. It lacks something that just comes with a Mac. None the less, we still run one PC upstairs. It was a gift a few years back, yet it seemed that it was quickly outdating itself when we got it. Two years ago, we acquired a PC laptop, a dell..it wasn't much better. Then, I got my new job, and the heavens opened up and presented us with Mac. School gave me one! Granted, it's only an iBook g4, and Joe now has a nice Powerbook, but it's still a mac! And you know what? It doesn't matter how restricted I am, I can still do everything I want or need to do on a mac, regardless of my restrictions! The basic platform is just so complete for us! If I need to do anything special, I just use Joe's. None the less, we've still got our one PC running. It's more or less a hub. The router connects here as does the printer. With the feat of getting up really early last black Friday, we invested a whole of $20 for all the storage space we could ever want in a 200 gig HD. I even installed it! Sadly, over the past few days, it's been dieing on us. I'm going to be very honest with you. For once, I'm not nearly phased by this computer conking out! Yes, I have a lot of music and pictures stored on the second storage drive, but that drive is just fine! It's the master. It needs replacing..I realized today that if I wait until Thanksgiving, I can go out and get another HD for pennies and fix my computer for LESS than the cost of recovering all of the info on that second drive. I still don't quite want to let go of it just yet. We may never use it. It may just be a go between, but I still feel like I can spend 20 bucks to repair it..but definately no more than that! When does it go beyond being just hokey and superstitious? Nothing has ever come easy for Joe and I. We started our marriage with a plan. We'd both get teaching jobs. Then we would work for 3 years. When we both had tenure, we'd start a family. It seemed like a novel plan, but the universe didn't agree even then, 6 years ago. The road has been quite bumpy, but you know what? We are still here. We are still together. We are still very much in love. And whether or not the universe agrees with our current baby plans, we aren't going to give up. One thing we've learned is that if we DON'T give up, we usually end up where we want. After all, we are both (finally!) in public school and we own an amazing house! Know of any good ways to trick the universe? If not, at least pray that it works this cycle, mmmk? Labels: milestones 6:22 PM 10/02/20070 Comments:325 years. That would be how old Bordentown is this year. With that, comes quite a bit of celebration. We've had a reenactment in town, quite a few spirit walks, and most recently, yesterday, a parade! The highlight of the parade was the marching of the Budweiser Clydesdale horses. I'm not sure why these ended up being the highlight, but all weekend long, there was quite a bit of hoopla about these horses stopping in our little town. All 8 of them! Joe and I decided to curiously wander up to the Ford dealership yesterday where they were unloading the horses for the parade. That whole event turned out to be somewhat of a wash, but when they were in the parade, boy what a spectacular sight! They even travel with their own cleanup crew! Outside of the horses, there were marching bands and floats galore. It really is a lot of fun to be able to wander out of your front door and down the block for a parade celebration! Next week is the annual cranberry festival! Does it ever end here in beautiful Bordentown? Labels: Bordentown 10:38 AM 10/01/20070 Comments: |
